Please keep in mind that if you are working on a SharePoint file, you don't need to save it locally and then re-upload it since your changes will automatically sync.
You can confirm that by the AutoSave icon on the top left in the Desktop app
Accessing SharePoint files
- Go to office.com
- Click on the top left menu and SharePoint will be there (if it is not it will be under "More apps")
- From there you can see sites that you have access to and on the top you can search for the exact file you need
Opening in Desktop apps from SharePoint Online
Right-click the file and hover over "Open" and then choose "Open in app"
Opening in Desktop apps from the Web app
If you are already in the Web version and you would like to switch to the Desktop app, press on Viewing/Editing at the top right and the option will be in there
Saving from Desktop app into SharePoint Online
- If you created a new File on your desktop and would like to save it directly into SharePoint, you can do so by going to "Save As"
- You can also drag and drop documents from your desktop into SharePoint
